Governance

Since December 2018, Arcane has been governed by the Graduate School Chemistry, Biology and Health (GS-CBH). In addition to the governance provided by GS-CBH, Arcane is managed by a Board of Management, which includes directors from the seven partner laboratories:

The Board of Management (BOM) meets quarterly and the meetings are chaired by the head of the LabEx, Carole DUBOC. This Board is responsible for defining the overall strategy and setting guidelines for critical actions, such as planning calls for projects and determining budget orientations. It also validates project selections and appoints the Arcane’s head and the representatives to the Scientific Advisory Board.

The Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), chaired by the head of the LabEx, convenes every two months. For project calls, this board is tasked with evaluating projects, proposing selection, and drafting corresponding reports. Members of the Scientific Advisory Board spearhead various Labex initiatives through specialized working committees responsible for distinct actions, including a training committee to organize schools, a dissemination committee to plan the scientific days, and public outreach activities, or a valorization committee to develop strategies to strengthen ties between the academic and private sectors.

It is composed of 24 representatives from the 7 partner laboratories nominated for 4 years.

The Executive Board consists of the Project Manager, Agnieszka JANOWSKA, the head of the LAbEx, and three additional members, Sabine HEIDIGER, Thomas LAVERGNE, and Frédéric MINASSIAN, appointed by the head to oversee daily operations. The board meets every two weeks serving as the between the BOM and the SAB to ensure that proposals align with the guidelines established by the BOM.
Nathalie CAMERINO handles Arcane orders and missions.

An External Scientific Committee evaluates the Labex strategy and its scientific and technological outcomes. Composed of external experts with internationally recognized expertise in the field, this committee will next convene in autumn 2024. The meeting will focus on assessing the results of Arcane 2 initiatives and offering advice and recommendations for the upcoming Arcane 3 project.
