My work consists in designing molecular structures capable of producing hydrogen from water using sunlight as sole energy source.
My name is Anthonin Moinel, PhD student developing a project in collaboration between the LCBM and the SyMMES laboratories. I graduated in 2019 from the School of Chemistry of Montpellier (ENSCM) in organic chemistry.
What drives me for this PhD project is that I can apply my skills in organic chemistry to the energy and environment field. Indeed, I believe that finding solutions to produce fuels in a sustainable way is of high importance in the current global warming context. The science/technology developed in this project could provide, in the long term, a sustainable way to power the future society. Being part of this work is, to me, rewarding.
The scope of the Arcane LabEx is quite wide, but focuses on bio-inspired sciences for the Energy, the Environment and Health. I think that funding such kind of research is a good bet for a better future. Moreover, Arcane is also a scientific community gathering various sciences and people. The numerous seminars held by the LabEx represent excellent opportunities to be part of this scientific community and to present your own work.
As for my career plans after the PhD, it is not quite clear yet. I will see what opportunities I will get at that time.
