Synthesis, surface-functionalisation and in-vitro stability of new non-toxic quantum dots as novel biomedical probes for theranostic applications.
I’m Omar El-Dahshan, a 1st year PhD student working on a collaborative project between the SyMMES and CBM laboratories (CEA). I graduated, in the summer of 2021, with a master’s degree in chemistry from Durham University (UK), during which I conducted my master’s research into quantum dots at SyMMES (CEA). From this, I developed an interest in the vast potential of nanotechnology for biomedical applications and the multidisciplinary nature of the field, which is perfectly encapsulated by my project.
The ARCANE scholarship and their corresponding laboratories provide an excellent opportunity to further develop my knowledge and contribute to research in this exciting, multidisciplinary field on a project which aligns with their research aims.
After I have completed my PhD, I want to pursue further applied research into utilising nanotechnology for biomedical applications and human health!
