DNP-enhanced NMR to improve the stability of lead-free perovskite nanocrystals capped with bio-inspired ligands for the photoelectrocatalytic CO2 reduction

Perovskite nanocrystals, although very useful, need to be stabilized by bio-inspired organic ligands. We want to study this stabilization mechanism using DNP-enhanced NMR spectroscopy.

I am Ankan, a PhD student in the MEM and SyMMES laboratories in CEA Grenoble. I am working on perovskite nanocrystals. The vast scope of their applications has always intrigued me. I did my Master's project in Dr Gaël de Paëpe's laboratory in CEA, where I got access to the one-of-a-kind DNP system here. This was a major inspiration for me as these materials are extremely insensitive to NMR, hence difficult to study. I will work towards synthesizing and studying environment-friendly and highly stable perovskite nanocrystals that can be used for reduction of CO2, a major greenhouse gas. Considering my project goals, I felt Arcane was the ideal program because of its emphasis on clean energy. After my PhD I would like to continue in academia, working on emerging alternative energy sources.
