Designing robust and efficient molecular photocathodes for solar fuel production

photo recadree Claire

I am working on designing new robust molecular dyes to improve the efficiency of photocathodes for solar fuel production.

My name is Claire Bourguignon. I graduated in 2022 with a master’s degree in inorganic, physical and solid chemistry from Université Paris-Saclay and am now carrying out my PhD project between the LCBM and the SyMMES laboratories.

What drove me to choose this topic was my desire to work towards developing promising solutions to the energy crisis and to play my part in investigating more sustainable technologies. Indeed, energy is a key issue given the urgency of climate change and I believe that science can contribute in finding more efficient strategies for the production of renewable fuels.

Thanks to this project and the collaboration between my two laboratories, the Arcane LABEX allows me to develop skills in the different aspects of this topic, from organic synthesis to photoelectrochemistry. Arcane's scientific environment also allows us to participate in and create a real scientific community.

After my PhD, I hope to continue working in the field of sustainable energy, either in academia or in the industry.
