Peptide decorated amyloid fibrils and hydrogels as biomimetic olfactory cilia for sensitivity improvement of electronic nose

Majd Khalife

A Ph.D. student in CREAB team under the supervision of Dr.HOU-BROUTIN Yanxia (SyMMES/CREAB) and Dr. FORGE Vincent (LCBM/ SOLHYCAT). I have a master degree in biochemistry concentrated on Pharmacology. Later on, I worked as an assistant engineer in INRAE (Jouy-En-Josas) with the MicrobAdapt team under the direction of Jasmina VIDIC in the detection of bacterial spores in contaminated food by an electrochemical biosensor. During my work I was first author of 1 article and co-author for 2 another articles. My Ph.D. project is based on a new collaboration between SyMMES and LCBM and respective recognized expertise of the two principal investigators in eN development and self-assembly of bioengineered proteins , we aim to develop an original bioinspired chemical approach to mimic olfactory cilia in human nose in order to greatly increase the specific sensing surface and thus the sensitivity of the eN. The ARCANE Labex give us the opportunity to meet different students from different scientific domains to gain more knowledge and experience because my PhD project is multidisciplinary. Finally, this 3-year journey will guide me in my future to work for the industries and in the research field to be more innovative for the world.
