New fluorogenic reaction induced by a supramolecular assembly of aptamers for the detection of small molecules

Development of a new detection method for small analytes involving aptamers and the formation of fluorescent indolizines via a DNA-templated 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition.

After graduating with a master's degree in Chemistry for Life Sciences delivered by the UGA, I’m starting my doctoral thesis by working on a collaborative project between the DPM and DCM under the supervision of Drs. Baussanne and Spinelli. This project, funded by Labex ARCANE, The project revolves around the development of a new method for the detection of small molecules by fluorescence based on the use of aptamers.

The multidisciplinary nature of the project immediately appealed to me, as it will guarantee me a rich and versatile training. The ARCANE funding has indeed provided me with the opportunity to learn from two high-standard labs and soak up their expertise. I’m also looking forward to expanding my scientific knowledge through the various seminars held by the Labex.

As for my future plans, I would like to first pursue postdoctoral research before cementing my career in academics and teaching.
